Lens step up search to replace Pierre Sage, Olivier Pantaloni in pole position | OneFootball

According to L'Équipe, as Lens negotiate Pierre Sage's move to Crystal Palace, the club are accelerating plans to appoint his successor, with Olivier Pantaloni in pole position.

Sage's departure had dominated the agenda, but attention can now turn to finalising the new coach, although the timing of any announcement remains unclear. Pantaloni, 59, left Lorient after steering them to 10th in Ligue 1.

Lorient confirmed on Tuesday the appointment of Alexandre Dujeux, a coach also monitored by Lens.

The Corsican ticks several boxes for Lens and forged an effective tandem at Lorient with Yannick Cahuzac.

Cahuzac's return to the Lens staff this summer has been planned for months, with a view to him taking the top job in the coming years.
