Flamengo are planning to strengthen in the next transfer window after head coach Leonardo Jardim highlighted gaps in an ageing squad. According to Coluna Do Fla, the club intend to be active despite heavy spending earlier this year.
Jardim said the squad is built and a champion team, but not young, so it requires careful management. He pointed to gaps, citing the departure of Arrascaeta and the lack of a more attacking player, adding that more may still be needed.
He added that they are seeking solutions to make the side more competitive over a long campaign. With matches every three days in Brazil, the group needs energy and good fitness.
A centre-forward is a priority, with a view to competing with Pedro. Kaio Jorge, a standout at Cruzeiro, was pursued, but no financial agreement was reached.
The club are also targeting a left-back. Alex Sandro is contracted until the end of 2026, yet he is weighing a move to a club with a lighter schedule, and Ayrton Lucas is out of favour with supporters.
The second transfer window of 2026 runs from 20 July to 11 September, giving Flamengo around two months to reinforce for the run-in. They face Cusco (PER) at the Maracanã on Tuesday 26 at 21:30 Brasília time, in the final round of the Libertadores group stage.
