Leonardo Jardim, around three months into his Flamengo tenure, says he would only return to Portugal to manage the national team.

"No, I will not go back to Portugal to manage a club. The only opening to return to Portugal is to manage the national team, if that possibility exists. But I do not carry it as a burden. After leaving Sporting in 2014, I promised myself my career would be like this," he told A Bola.

"I am someone who likes experiences, not only in football but in life. When you work on three continents and in seven or eight countries, in different cultures, you also grow. You grow as a human being and as a coach."

Flamengo appointed Jardim in early March this year after the sacking of Filipe Luís. Since taking charge he has overseen 22 matches, with 15 wins, four draws and three defeats.

In the Libertadores group stage, Flamengo finished with the best overall record on 16 points. In the Brasileirão they sit second on 31 points, seven behind leaders Palmeiras. They were knocked out of the Copa do Brasil by Vitória in the fifth phase.

Flamengo host Coritiba at the Maracanã on Saturday 30 at 16:00 Brasília time, in the 18th round of the Brasileirão.
