Les Bleues will start their 2027 World Cup qualifying campaign without Griedge Mbock and Delphine Cascarino, as Anaïs Ebayilin receives a first call-up. According to L'Équipe, France face the Republic of Ireland then Poland in early March.
Head coach Laurent Bonadei named a 26-player squad on Tuesday for Republic of Ireland on Tuesday three March in Dublin, then Poland on Saturday seven in Dijon.
Bonadei chose an expanded group with club matches midweek and at the weekend, and with players who could be injured or still recovering. He said Mbock and Cascarino are injured, while Selma Bacha and Alice Sombath are under observation. With games in 15 and 18 days, there is time for players to recover.
On Mbock, he said she was hurt against OL Lyonnes and left the pitch in tears. She is back working and is set to resume once the international window ends, adding he hopes for a March return and that the injury is not too serious. Cascarino has moved from San Diego to London City and, after heavy work during her holidays, picked up a minor calf issue linked to the change of context and surface. She should be able to return to training during March.
Ebayilin, the 18-year-old PSG midfielder, had suffered an injury with her club in Australia, yet her recent run of games has impressed Bonadei. He values her versatility, able to operate in midfield and at centre-back. He believes she is ready and welcomes young players stepping up.
