Les Corons, the Pierre Bachelet song, has become RC Lens’s unofficial anthem after a tribute at Stade Bollaert-Delelis in 2005. According to L'Équipe, it echoed again before the Coupe de France final at Stade de France on 22 May, Lens beating Nice 3-1.

The track was first played at Bollaert-Delelis in February 2005, four days after Bachelet’s death, to honour his memory. It quickly took hold among supporters as the club’s unofficial hymn.

At the Stade de France, both Lens and Nice fans sang Les Corons at full volume while the Garde républicaine provided the music. The scene gave the national stadium a touch of Bollaert.

Former RC Lens president Gervais Martel, who served from 1988-2012 and 2013-2017, described the moment as incredible. He said the shared emotion, together with victory, will remain a major chapter in the club’s history.

The adoption of Les Corons by the Bollaert-Delelis crowd has endured, and its resonance was plain on 22 May.
