After clinging to safety last season, Levante return to work as Luís Castro begins his first summer in charge. According to Superdeporte, pre-season opens tomorrow with medicals, with 28 players expected barring late movement, and training resumes on Monday after IMSKE hospital checks.
So far the only signing is French midfielder Enzo Bardeli, praised by the coach for his spell at USL Dunquerke. The 25-year-old, in principle, covers the already announced departure of Pablo Martínez.
Following five days of training, Levante will host CD Leganés at the Ciudad Deportiva de Buñol on Saturday 11 July at 19:00. The second friendly is against Sheffield United on Friday 17 July, with venue and kick-off to be confirmed.
The market remains quiet. Departures so far are limited to contract or loan endings, with no sales and no major moves yet. Carlos Espí and Etta Eyong are in Castro’s short-term plans while offers could yet unblock the window, left-back is empty after Manu Sánchez and Diego Pampín departed and midfield depth has thinned.
Seven academy players will report. Nacho Pérez has trained as a first-teamer under Castro and Martin Krug has already started an official match. Goalkeeper Ihor Galdin has worked with Mathew Ryan, Pablo Cuñat and Álex Primo, Dani Cervera was called up for March’s draw with Girona, and Alberto Calatrava and Marc Santos now step up after renewals.
Castro will also assess four players back from loans. Jorge Cabello returns from CD Mirandés, relegated on the final day to Primera Federación, after playing almost every minute and will try to earn a place. Goalkeeper Dani Martín comes back from SD Huesca’s relegation after a secondary role.
