Left-back is reportedly pushing for Old Trafford move

Lewis Hall is reportedly still very keen to join Manchester United this summer despite Newcastle insisting the defender is not for sale.

Newcastle are desperate to keep hold of Hall this summer, having already lost their three best players in Anthony Gordon, Sandro Tonali and captain Bruno Guimaraes.

Hall is arguably next on the list as he continues to attract suitors, and Man Utd are known to be interested in the former Chelsea left-back.

United manager Michael Carrick wants to strengthen his options at full-back, with the aging Luke Shaw the only recognised left-back in the squad.

Shaw appears to have put his injury woes behind him, having started of 38 of United’s Premier League matches last season, but the addition of Champions League football will stretch the squad.

Man Utd have already approached Newcastle to explore the conditions to sign Hall, but were told the England international was not for sale.

Despite the club’s stance, The Sun report that Hall remains eager to move to Old Trafford and has made his desire to leave Newcastle clear.

The Sun previously claimed that Hall believes the tactical decisions of Eddie Howe, who has since left his role as Newcastle manager, contributed to him missing out on England’s 2026 World Cup squad.

And now it is said that Hall’s frustrations remain and a move away from St James’ Park is his desire despite Matthias Jaissle’s appointment as Howe’s replacement.

Even so, Newcastle remain in a strong negotiating position, with Hall under contract until 2029.

Newcastle are said to be aware that concerns are growing among some members of the squad regarding the direction of the team.

A change in stance has not been ruled out, and could depend on how much Hall pushes to leave with a key role at Man Utd seemingly up for grabs.
