Manchester United decided against making any first-team signings during the winter transfer window, which is now shut.

When Michael Carrick was brought in to replace Ruben Amorim, it was stressed that money is available to strengthen the squad should a target for the long term become available.

It seems United did not find any viable deals to pursue, leaving Carrick with the same squad to work with for the remainder of the campaign.

Manchester United want to make three signings in summer

The recruitment team’s focus is now on the summer transfer window, and it is being suggested that Manchester United are prepared to make an “unprecedented” investment worth around £172.4 million to revamp the squad.

According to Fichajes, United will look to build their project around young British players, having set their sights on Elliot Anderson, Lewis Hall, and Alex Scott.

United’s priority is to bolster their midfield, and both Anderson and Scott have emerged as their top targets.

The Nottingham Forest star, in particular, has become a sought-after name due to his impressive ball-winning ability and composure in possession. It might take north of £100m to convince Forest to part ways with the 23-year-old.

Meanwhile, United admire Scott for his versatility. The promising 22-year-old possesses exceptional close control and the ability to glide past opponents.

Lewis Hall lands on Man United’s radar

The Spanish outlet claims United are also interested in Newcastle United full-back Lewis Hall

It is believed the club’s hierarchy are looking for a long-term solution to their issues at left-back.

Lewis Hall Stats: 2025/26 Season

The ageing Luke Shaw needs solid competition, capable of eventually replacing him as the side’s first-choice left-back. Further, United want to push Patrick Dorgu higher up the field and compete with Matheus Cunha

Hall joined Newcastle from Chelsea in a deal worth £35m, including add-ons, in 2023. The left-footed Englishman is technically gifted and defensively astute.
