He replaced Nico O'Reilly on 83 minutes against the Clarets to achieve his notable milestone.

Still only 20, the Academy graduate made his senior debut for Pep Guardiola’s side in the first home game of the 2022/23 campaign and has been a key part of the manager’s plans ever since.

He joins an exclusive club of Academy graduates to reach three figures in the senior side before their 21st birthday. In the Premier League era, only Micah Richards and Phil Foden have done so for City.

The versatile operator is already more successful than many players ever are throughout long careers, having lifted seven major honours to date.

Born in Radcliffe, Lewis joined our Academy as an eight-year-old and enjoyed serene progression through our youth ranks before captaining the Under-18s to the Premier League title in 2021/22.

After making an impression on tour in the summer of 2022, Guardiola added him to his squad for the subsequent campaign.

His first goal came in the 3-1 win over Sevilla that November, becoming the youngest scorer on a first start in the Champions League and our youngest ever Champions League scorer.

He played 23 times in the Treble-winning season, most often from right-back, with the boss regularly praising his attitude and enthusiasm as well as his ability to play in tight spaces.

A senior England debut followed in November 2023 before four more appearances for the Three Lions throughout 2024.

While still a teenager, another 27 games for City came in 2023/24 as we lifted our record fourth successive Premier League title.

2024/25 proved to be his busiest campaign yet, with a whopping 44 appearances in total.

Having spent much of his senior career to that point starting at right-back and moving into midfield in possession, last season saw Lewis used increasingly in the midfield from the start.

That saw him contribute two goals and five assists in total, including a brilliant, memorable goal early on in the FA Cup semi-final victory over Nottingham Forest.

Still so young, there’s plenty more to come from Lewis.

Congratulations to Rico on this latest landmark in his career!
