Liam Cooper has welcomed Harry Gray to Sheffield Wednesday with a three-word Instagram message as the Leeds United teenager begins a season-long loan. The 17-year-old will spend 2026/27 back in League One.

Wednesday’s relegation from the Championship earlier this year preceded a change of ownership and a squad rebuild. Leeds said in a statement that they would be monitoring his progress very closely, and Gray should have senior minutes to aid his development.

Gray scored three goals in 20 League One appearances during a six-month spell at Rotherham United last season amid a relegation scrap. He and Leeds will hope a move to a promotion hopeful brings more chances to add to that tally.

Cooper, 34, signed a new one-year deal with Wednesday in June after initially joining on a short-term contract in November. He marked Gray’s arrival by sharing an Instagram story that read "Here he is".

Gray has already linked up with the Owls for pre-season. Their 2026/27 campaign starts a week and a half before Leeds in the Premier League, with a Carabao Cup tie at Bolton Wanderers on eight August. Club media showed early fitness testing, including the bleep test, after which the Leeds loanee dropped to the floor for a brief rest.
