Liam Cullen leaves Swansea City after 19 years at his boyhood club, having joined the academy as an eight-year-old.
According to BBC UK, he fulfilled early promise by making 207 senior appearances across the past eight years, and his exit will be hard to replace in a dressing room he helped shape.
Swansea also lose a dependable performer, with Vitor Matos earlier this year calling him the type of player coaches appreciate. Some fans have criticised him at times, despite his clear commitment.
In February, Matos praised a mentality to squeeze maximum impact from even a five-minute cameo. Others, including Wales head coach Craig Bellamy and previous Swansea managers, have voiced similar views.
It is no surprise that Russell Martin has turned to Cullen after working with him in Wales. Leicester City are getting a player who can operate as a striker or, more recently, in an advanced midfield role.
Cullen has not been prolific at first-team level, with a best Swansea return of 12 in 2024-25, something Martin will know. Back at Swansea, Leo Walta, Melker Widell and summer arrivals Moussa Yeo and Elijah Just will battle for the slots behind a centre-forward.
