Liam Gallagher speaks out as England fans adopt Oasis classic Wonderwall during World Cup | OneFootball

Liam Gallagher has called on England fans to "keep the biblical vibrations going" after supporters at the World Cup once again joined players in singing Oasis's “Wonderwall” at full time.

The tradition began following England's 4-2 triumph against Croatia in their opening group game of the tournament, which is being held across the US, Canada, and Mexico.

The post-match singalong has since become a regular occurrence after subsequent matches.

After England staged a comeback to beat DR Congo 2-1 on Wednesday, the 53-year-old musician posted on X: "Let’s keep the biblical vibrations going if the governments we put in power can’t bring it then it’s down to the people c’mon England."

Following their latest victory, secured by a brace from Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane, the squad lined up before the England supporters and collectively belted out the 1995 single.

Gallagher said in a further post following the match “Harry Kane, lick it up to ras”, before adding: “The country needs good vibrations until the mighty O (Oasis) comes back, life is meant to be good not shit.”

Fans then replied by asking him when Oasis would reunite again following their 2025 reunion tour, to which Gallagher joked that he could not tell them “for security reasons”.

In another post, the rockstar predicted that England would beat Mexico 5-0 at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, where they have only ever been beaten twice in competitive fixtures.

Written by Gallagher’s brother Noel, Oasis’s “Wonderwall” reached number two on the UK singles chart upon its release in the 1990s and has become one of the Manchester band’s best known songs.

The song was covered by easy listening group The Mike Flowers Pops later that year, with that version also reaching number two on the singles chart.

As well as its recent use at England games, Wonderwall is also played after the home games of Manchester City, the Premier League team which both of the Gallagher brothers support.

England play Mexico in a last-16 clash at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City at 1am on Monday, 6 July at 1am BST.
