Football is all about very fine margins, and Liam Rosenior believes he witnessed a freak “one-in-a-thousand moment” last night.

He was watching on as his side were all over Leeds United in stoppage time last night in their latest Premier League match.

Chelsea were creating chance after chance and it just felt like Leeds could not hold off the storm any longer. Cross after cross was coming in, and Chelsea players were getting closer and closer to getting on the end of one to score that vital winner, with the game poised at 2-2.

Then, in almost the 94th minute of the game, Moises Caicedo managed to get a cross in to the box and it landed right to the usually trusty foot of Cole Palmer, who was literally standing on the goal line with an open goal in front of him. We would all put our houses on him scoring that, but somehow, he missed the target completely!

It marked a mixed bag for Palmer, who was superb for the rest of the game and scored another penalty earlier on to put Chelsea 2-0 up in the game.

Cole Palmer spoons his chance over.

After the game, Blues boss Liam Rosenior said on Palmer’s miss:

“He’s in the position and 999 times out of 1000 he scores. It was just that one-in-a-thousand moment. I have to say. We shouldn’t be in that position. The game should be done at 2-0. I need to show the players certain things to make sure that doesn’t happen again.”

He’s right

At 2-0 up, Chelsea were cruising it and should have well and truly put the game to bed. This one is on the players and there was nothing the head coach could do.
