DUX Logroño boosted their survival hopes with a 2-1 success over Sevilla at the weekend.

Elsewhere, Liga F’s bottom two sides, Alhama and Levante, both failed to take anything from their respective matches on match-day 25.

At the other end of the Liga F table, Barcelona are now within touching distance of securing the title once again. Here’s how the latest lot of results in Spain’s top flight unfolded.

Logroño claim first home win

DUX Logroño moved five points clear of the relegation zone with a narrow home win against Sevilla. Rebeca nodded the hosts into a 13th-minute lead after Daiana Falfán headed a deep free-kick across the face of goal. Sevilla’s response arrived in the 40th minute when Millaray Cortés produced an outrageous strike from distance to level the scoreline.

However, Logroño were presented with the chance to restore their slender lead in first-half stoppage time after Fatou Kanteh had been penalised for a clumsy challenge in the box. Isina blasted the ball home from 12 yards to score her fifth league goal of the campaign. The penalty proved enough to seal Logroño’s first home win of the Liga F season.

Real Sociedad put five past Alhama

Alhama slipped closer to relegation with a heavy defeat to Real Sociedad. Belén Martínez’s lob from distance was soon forgotten as La Real fought back with three first half goals. Claire Lavogez scored either side of a Paula Fernández effort to establish a 3-1 lead at the break. Aiara Agirrezabala extinguished Alhama’s fading hopes of a positive result when she extended Real Sociedad’s advantage in the early stages of the second period.

Nerea Eizaguirre then added a fifth from the penalty spot to wrap up the commanding victory, moving Real Sociedad closer to Champions League qualification.

Late heartbreak for Levante

While Alhama are five points away from safety, Levante are six adrift of Logroño following their narrow 1-0 defeat to Athletic.

Liga F’s basement side looked set to play out a goalless draw until Ane Campos struck in the second minute of stoppage time. Laura Coronado did her utmost to keep out Campos’ headed effort, but her dive at full stretch could not deny the substitute her second goal of the season.

Levante now require something special in their final five games if they are to preserve their top flight status.

Barcelona move to brink of Liga F title

Barcelona moved to the brink of the Liga F with a resounding 6-0 win over fellow Catalan side, Badalona. The visitors managed to keep the league leaders down to just one goal in the first period. That effort came from the left boot of Salma Paralluelo, who dispatched an 18th-minute penalty to fire the hosts into the lead at the Estadi Johan Cruyff. Marta Torrejón scored within five minutes of the restart, before Sydney Schertenleib produced a sensational effort from distance to take Barcelona’s tally to three. Esmee Brugts then added her name to the scoresheet with her third goal in four matches.

Defender Mapi León made it five with an effort direct from a corner, with the Olimpico providing Schertenleib with competition for the goal of the game. There was still time left for Martine Fenger to tap in from close range to score her first goal for the senior side. After maintaining their 13-point lead at the top, Barcelona will have the chance to clinch the league title in the next Liga F match-day after the international break.

Real Madrid return to winning ways

Meanwhile, Real Madrid picked themselves up from three consecutive defeats to Barcelona with a 2-0 success against city rivals Madrid CFF. Linda Caicedo broke the deadlock in the opening three minutes of the second period. The Colombia international neatly exchanged the ball with Athenea del Castillo before driving into the box and calmly slotting past Paola Ulloa.

Midfielder Sara Däbritz wrapped up the win with a thunderous strike from distance in the 73rd minute. The 31-year-old controlled the loose ball and struck it with such power and precision that it turned the goalkeeper into a mere bystander.

Two home wins and frustration for Tenerife

Elsewhere, Granada claimed a 2-0 victory in Saturday’s home clash with Espanyol, meaning they have won six of their last seven games without conceding. Manoly Baquerizo broke the deadlock in the 26th minute, sending the Andalusian side into the half-time break with a narrow lead. Granada’s lead remained narrow until Baquerizo netted her second goal of the game in the 93rd minute. The Ecuador international produced a composed header from a deep cross, sending the ball looping over the goalkeeper and into the far corner.

Like Granada, Atlético Madrid also picked up a 2-0 win in their home meeting with Deportivo La Coruña. Vilde Bøe Risa opened the scoring with her first goal of 2026. Substitute Gio Garbelini made sure of the three points in the 83rd minute, when she pounced on a loose Depor pass and fired a low shot beyond Inês Pereira.

As for Costa Adeje Tenerife, their top three hopes appear to be over after they were held to a goalless draw in Friday’s away meeting with Eibar. As a result of the two dropped points, the fourth-placed side are now eight points adrift of Real Sociedad with just five matches left to play. Meanwhile, Eibar are now nine points clear of the relegation zone.

Did you know?

Deportivo Alavés will compete in Liga F next season after they secured promotion with a 4-0 win over Club Esportiu Europa at the weekend. While they may be in second place, leaders Barcelona B cannot be promoted, meaning the Basque side will return to the top flight after being relegated in 2022-23.

Best goal of Liga F match-day 25

Schertenleib, León and Dabritz were among those to produce stunning strikes over the course of the weekend. But we have to give the nod to Sevilla’s Cortés, whose audacious curling effort from distance had the power and precision to beat the goalkeeper.
