According to a report from Fabrice Hawkins, Lille have agreed personal terms with Başar Önal (21). A winger by trade, the Dutch-born Turkish youth international plays his club football with Dutch side NEC Nijmegen.
Önal had a breakthrough season last year, making 34 appearances across all competitions and scoring nine and assisting nine. This included playing a significant part in NEC’s run to the KNVB Cup final, which they would ultimately lose 5-1 to AZ Alkmaar.
The wings were a problem area for Lille last season during their poor run of form at the start of the new year, with the club’s midseason attacking recruits Gaëtan Perrin and Noah Edjouma yet to make a splash. Lille could also need to strengthen the attack with Matias Fernandez-Pardo heavily linked with a big-money move this summer.
NEC are reportedly holding out for around €7m for Önal, with negotiations ongoing between them and Les Dogues.
