Lille are close to signing Japan international Ayase Ueda, 28, from Feyenoord as they move to replace Belgian forward Matias Fernandez-Pardo ahead of his expected switch to England. President Olivier Létang wanted a successor in place before approving that transfer.

According to De Telegraaf, LOSC will recruit last season’s Eredivisie top scorer, who has 43 caps and 18 goals for Japan after hitting 25 league goals last term.

He has scored 40 goals in 82 Eredivisie appearances for Feyenoord and found the net again on Sunday in a 2-2 draw with ADO Den Haag. He is said to have bid farewell to team-mates after the match.

Ueda had two years left on his contract and joined the Rotterdam club in summer 2023 for €8m. The fee will be around €15m, well below his valuation.

Lille executives were in Rotterdam on Sunday to finalise the move, which took shape midweek. Ueda will undergo a medical on Monday before signing for LOSC.
