OGC Nice’s future hangs in the balance. Whilst the club have a Coupe de France final to look forward to, the club must first secure their future in Ligue 1. With one gameweek remaining, they don’t have their fate in their own hands. Nice must better AJ Auxerre’s result on Sunday in order to avoid playing a relegation play-off; having to do so would take some of the sheen off their Coupe de France final against RC Lens, as it did for Stade de Reims last season.
In any case, it is looking as though Nice will opt for a managerial change at the end of the season. As per a report from Nice-Matin, Lille OSC’s Bruno Genesio is an option.
Genesio is looking increasingly likely to leave LOSC at the end of the season. As he recently publicly admitted, there are currently no signs of an extension to his deal, which expires at the end of the season. He is also linked to the hot seat at Olympique de Marseille. Should Nice have any hope of replacing Claude Puel with Genesio, the club must first guarantee its place in the top-flight for next season.
