Lindsey Heaps hits 40th goal as United States beat Japan 2-1 | OneFootball

OL Lyonnes midfielder Lindsey Heaps scored the United States' second in a 2-1 win over Japan in San Jose, California, taking her international tally to 40.

It was the first of three scheduled matches against Japan during this international break, played overnight from Saturday to Sunday. According to Le Progres, Heaps will return to domestic action in the United States after finishing the season with Lyon and is bound for Denver.

Team USA's Lily Yohannes, also of OL Lyonnes, remained on the bench as her soon-to-be former club-mate reached the milestone.

The previous day, Christiane Endler lost 1-0 with Chile against Argentina, the leaders of CONMEBOL's Nations League.

Chile are fourth ahead of trips to Colombia on 15 April and Uruguay on 18 April, so are not in position to qualify directly for the next World Cup in Brazil.
