Lingard cements starting role at Corinthians, could match Memphis appearances | OneFootball

Jesse Lingard could draw level with Memphis Depay’s 12 appearances in 2026 if he features for Corinthians against São Paulo on Sunday. He is establishing himself among the starters.

According to Globo.com, Lingard is likely to again form a front two with Yuri Alberto. The clássico at Neo Química Arena kicks off at 18:30 Brasília time in the 15th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro.

Announced by the club at the start of March, the English midfielder has 11 appearances and two goals. He started the last three games, against Peñarol, Mirassol and Santa Fé, and was praised by coach Fernando Diniz this week.

Memphis remains on 12 appearances for the season and has been in the medical department for almost 50 days, having been sidelined since 22 March.

He is in the final phase of recovery from a right thigh muscle injury and began physical transition work at CT Joaquim Grava 10 days ago, the longest lay-off of his Corinthians spell. His involvement on Sunday is still not confirmed.
