Lionel Messi features in promo clip for new Spider-Man film | OneFootball

Lionel Messi appears in a new Spider-Man promo released on Tuesday, right in the middle of the World Cup. The Inter Miami forward shares screen time with Tom Holland in a spot for Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Whether Messi will venture into cinema remains an open question. According to L'Équipe, Sony Pictures has published a 40-second clip with Holland, who has portrayed the superhero since 2016.

The scene opens in a café, Peter Parker on the phone, before he notices the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner walk in. Still in civilian clothes and a fan, he hurries over to speak to him.

Messi is using Spidey Tracker, an app that maps the web-slinger’s sightings worldwide, to look for Spider-Man. Parker slips away to suit up, to the delight of the Argentina international, who has 202 caps and 123 goals.

They conclude their meeting by passing between New York’s skyscrapers.

Messi remains on World Cup duty after an ideal group stage with the Albiceleste. Argentina continue their title defence overnight Saturday into Sunday against Cape Verde in the last 16, kick-off midnight. The winner will face the team that wins Australia v Egypt.
