Lucy Bronze has revealed she played with a broken leg throughout Euro 2025.

The 33-year-old has explained how she played through the pain barrier after suffering the injury two months ago and learning of the diagnosis in May.

After the Lionesses defended their European crown, Bronze said: “I’ve not been training all the time but just played the games and fought for my team.

“I found out after the Portugal game, but I knew I was in a lot of pain at the end of the season.

“All the England players knew, Sarina knew, I’ll do anything to play for England, I’ve always said that.

“I think that’s why I got a lot of praise from the girls after the Sweden game because I’ve been in a lot of games. But if that’s what it takes to play for England, that’s what I’ll do.”

England defied the odds to win Euro 2025 and retain the title they won on home soil three years ago.

The Lionesses came from behind to take Spain to penalties and Bronze insists she always had faith they could pull it off.

“I mean, I think we never lost belief in ourselves,” she said.

“There was a lot of noise on the outside. We stuck together and dug deep. To win on penalties, this team is so inspiring to be part of.

“What we have done today is unbelievable. Winning on penalties is an amazing feeling, but to lose on penalties is a horrible way to lose a final.

“I know a lot of these girls from Barca missing penalties. It is difficult I have been there a couple of years ago.

“This year it was meant for England. Today we have shown resilience. We have shown everyone to believe in yourself no matter what people say about you.”
