The Lionesses will go into the World Cup qualification play-offs after finishing second in their qualifying group.

Sarina Wiegman’s side beat Ukraine 3-0 in their final game thanks to goals from Jess Carter, Georgia Stanway and Beth Mead.

But it was not enough to clinch top spot and automatic qualification for the tournament in 2027, after Spain beat Iceland 6-1 to secure their spot in Brazil.

It means the Lionesses must progress through two rounds of play-offs to reach the World Cup, with their opponents yet to be decided.

The draw for the play-offs in October will take place on 18 June.
