Paris Saint-Germain are not waiting around when it comes to Bradley Barcola. According to GFFN, citing L’Équipe, contract extension talks have already been opened with the 23-year-old forward, whose current deal runs until 2028. The intention is clear, PSG want to keep him out of reach, and they are prepared to place him among their top earners to do so.
Last summer offered a glimpse into Barcola’s growing reputation. “Bayern Munich and Liverpool were in the race to sign the Frenchman,” reported L’Équipe, and that interest has hardly faded. His starting role came under scrutiny when Khvicha Kvaratskhelia joined in January, yet rather than being sidelined, Barcola has remained heavily involved across Ligue 1 and the Champions League.

The competition has arguably sharpened his profile rather than diminished it. One unnamed PSG source reportedly claimed, “Bradley has handled every challenge thrown at him, he thrives when pushed.” That resilience will only inflate his price tag.
PSG’s plan sounds simple on paper, tie him down long term, elevate his wage bracket and watch the vultures disperse. However, negotiations have not gone entirely to script. L’Équipe note that “those talks were initiated several months ago, they are stalling.”
That delay is where things get interesting. If he is truly destined to be one of PSG’s top eight earners, why the hesitation? Players rarely drag their feet when the offer aligns with their ambition. Another voice quoted in the French report suggested, “Bradley wants to feel central to what comes next, not just protected from a transfer.” That sentiment hints at deeper considerations than money.
Liverpool have already been credited with past interest, and while Arne Slot has a strong forward line at his disposal, he is also known for valuing versatile attackers. Barcola fits that mould, direct, intelligent, aggressive without being reckless. Should PSG fumble these talks, suitors will not wait long.
In many ways, forcing PSG into this position is already a victory for Barcola. He is no longer a promising winger on rotation, he is a strategic asset that elite clubs are circling.
From a Liverpool perspective, this is one to keep tabs on. Arne Slot has a front line blessed with depth, yet none of them quite mirror Barcola’s profile. He is tall, technically sharp and comfortable drifting across either flank while still making central runs. That blend of unpredictability and discipline is hard to find.
The big question is whether Liverpool would ever get a free run at him. PSG usually win these battles, either by paying the premium or by persuading players to wait for their turn. However, stalled negotiations are not nothing, and Liverpool have made a habit of striking opportunistically rather than loudly.
There is also the question of age and upside. At 23, Barcola is entering the perfect development phase for a Premier League move. He has continental experience without being set in his habits.
If Liverpool are serious about building a squad that can evolve rather than reset, monitoring situations like Barcola’s is essential. He may not be available today, but great recruitment starts long before a bid is made.
