In a recent report, The Star claimed that Liverpool are facing stiff competition for Sheffield Wednesday starlet Yisa Alao. It has been mentioned that the Reds would have to rival Chelsea and Manchester United in the race to land the English full-back this year.

Alao’s Impressive Rise In English Football

Alao has come through the youth ranks of Sheffield Wednesday and has done well to break out as a first-team starter for them recently. The 17-year-old has already made four senior appearances for the English club so far, but is still waiting to score or assist his first goal for the club.

The English talent is currently among the best young left-backs in English football. Therefore, Liverpool would do well to lure him to Anfield this January or at the end of this campaign.

However, Alao is still quite raw and would need time before he is ready to play regularly in top-flight football. Still, the Reds would be wise to move in for him this year.

Liverpool Are Facing Stiff Competition For Alao: Is He A Prospect For The Future?

Alao is a solid tackler of the ball and can read the danger well to earn the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually clears the danger when needed and is an energetic runner with the ball at his feet.

However, the English sensation is still quite inexperienced at the highest level and would need time to be ready for the Premier League if the Reds manage to bring him on board this year.

We can expect Alao to enhance the quality of Liverpool head coach Arne Slot’s defence in the long run. He could even serve as an ideal long-term successor for Andy Robertson, who looks past his prime, at the Merseyside club.

At 17, the future looks quite promising for Alao as long as he continues to improve with each season. He is undoubtedly a prospect to watch out for in the future. Therefore, Slot should focus on going all out to bring him to Anfield in this January transfer window or next summer. However, Liverpool have to be patient with his development before they can get the best out of him.
