In a recent report, journalist Pete O’Rourke claimed that Liverpool are facing stiff competition for Nottingham Forest defender Murillo. It has been stated that the Reds will have to rival Chelsea in the race to land the Brazilian centre-back next summer.
Murillo is having another solid campaign at the Midlands club as he has put in a series of impressive displays for them on the defensive end of the field. The Brazilian talent has made 25 appearances for Nottingham this season, finding the back of the net once in the process in all competitions.
The 23-year-old is currently playing at a high level and is among the best central defenders in the Premier League. Hence, it is no surprise that the Reds are among the clubs hoping to land him at the end of this season.
His current contract at the City Ground will run out in the summer of 2029, which could make it difficult for Liverpool to recruit him on the cheap later this year.

Murillo is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when needed and can use his strong 1.80m frame to overpower the opposition attackers.
The Brazilian talent is already quite familiar with the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at Liverpool. The Sao Paulo-born talent is primarily a central defender but can also function as a left-back if told to do so.
We can expect Murillo to bring more bite and steel to Liverpool boss Arne Slot’s defensive department. He is good enough to challenge for a regular first-team place at the Merseyside club in the coming seasons.
At 23, Murillo has his best years ahead of him, which makes him a good choice for the Reds to consider at the end of this campaign. He might even help Liverpool compete for some major trophies in the future. With all things considered, Slot would be wise to move in for the Brazilian defensive ace later this year.
