In a recent report, journalist Mark Brus claimed that Liverpool are in pole position to sign Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon. It has been stated that the Reds would have to rival Arsenal and Manchester City in the race to land the English talent next summer.
Gordon is having a decent campaign at the Tyneside club as he has produced a series of impressive displays for them in the Premier League. The 24-year-old has scored ten times and grabbed five assists in 35 matches for Newcastle this season on all fronts.
The English talent is currently among the best young wingers in English football. Therefore, it is no surprise that Liverpool are hoping to land Gordon.
His current contract at St. James’ Park will run out in the summer of 2029, which could make it tough for the Reds to sign him next summer.

Gordon is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few driving runs with it out in the wide areas. He has got the vision to create some inviting chances for his teammates to find the back of the net.
The English sensation can strike the ball with venom and precision from long range and can chip in by scoring and creating his fair share of goals from the flanks. Gordon is primarily a left-sided wide player but can also operate as a right-winger or a centre-forward if told to do so. He is already quite familiar with the Premier League and won’t take much time to settle into life in English football.
We can expect Gordon to bring more quality and depth to Liverpool head coach Arne Slot’s attack. He is good enough to challenge for a regular starting spot at the Merseyside club in the coming seasons.
At 24, Gordon has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a decent choice for the Reds to consider at the end of this campaign. He might even help Liverpool challenge for some major trophies over the next decade. All in all, Slot would be wise to step up his efforts to bring Gordon to Anfield later this year.
