Liverpool Are Pushing Hard To Land This Bundesliga Winger: Should Iraola Snap Him Up? | OneFootball

In a recent episode of the Here We Go podcast, journalist Fabrizio Romano mentioned that Liverpool are pushing hard to land Red Bull Leipzig winger Yan Diomande. Romano said,

“He’s wanted by Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain. Both clubs are still in the mix. Liverpool are really pushing, Liverpool are really insisting to make it happen. For Liverpool, he’s a top, top priority. They are offering important money to the player to get it done. On the other side, Paris Saint-Germain are also keen but it depends on what happens with Barcola, with Goncalo Ramos and Kang-in Lee. There are players that have to leave at PSG, while at Liverpool they’ve already made space with Mo Salah leaving and more players.”

Diomande’s Impressive Form In The Bundesliga

The 19-year-old was a consistent performer for Leipzig and managed to shine with his performances on the left side of their attack in the previous campaign. Diomande featured in 36 matches for Red Bull Leipzig last season, scoring 13 times and securing ten assists in all competitions.

The Ivory Coast talent was one of the most feared wide players in the Bundesliga. Thus, the Reds would do well to win the race for his services this summer.

Diomande is under contract at the Red Bull Arena until the summer of 2030, which could make it tough for Liverpool to land him on the cheap later this year.

Should Liverpool Boss Andoni Iraola Snap Diomande Up?

Diomande has got the pace to cause a lot of problems for his market out on the flanks. He can make a few dangerous runs with the ball in the final third and has got the eye to create some promising chances for others around him in and around the opponent’s penalty area.

The Ivory Coast wing wizard can shoot the ball with power from long range and did well to add a lot of goals and assists to his game last season. Diomande is primarily a left-sided wide player but can also operate as a right-winger if needed. However, there are some concerns over whether he can make a smooth transition to life in the Premier League.

Diomande would add more pace and firepower to Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola’s attack. He is capable of fighting for a regular first-team spot at Anfield next season.

At 19, Diomande has got a promising future ahead of him and could be an ideal replacement for Mohamed Salah at the Merseyside club. Hence, Iraola would be wise to go all out to snap him up this off-season.
