In a recent report, Fichajes stated that Liverpool are showing interest in Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams. It has been mentioned that the Reds are eyeing a move to bring the Spanish talent to Anfield next year.
Williams has enjoyed a good run of form at the Spanish club this season as he has produced a string of impressive performances for them in the final third. The 23-year-old has registered three goals and earned three assists in 17 appearances for Athletic Bilbao in this campaign across all competitions.
The Spanish talent has given a good account of himself in the final third and has done well to average 2.07 shots per 90 minutes in La Liga. He has kept 28.6% of his attempts on target. However, Williams needs to improve his ball distribution in the opponent’s half based on his pass success rate of 70.4% in the English top tier (stats via fbref.com).
His current contract at the Spanish club will run out in the summer of 2035. Hence, the Reds would have to make a convincing offer if they are serious about recruiting Williams next year.

Williams is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make some driving runs with it out on the flanks. He has got the vision to engineer some inviting chances in the final third and can strike the ball with power from long range.
The Spanish talent is primarily a left-winger but can also operate as a right-sided wide player if asked to do so by his manager. However, he has to find a way to improve his ball distribution in the final third.
We can expect Williams to bring more pace and goals to Liverpool head coach Arne Slot’s attack. He has what it takes to fight for a regular first-team spot at the Merseyside club in the coming years.
At 23, Williams has his best years ahead of him, which makes him a worthy target for the Reds to consider this January or at the end of this campaign. All in all, Slot would be wise to go for him in 2026.
