In a recent post on X, journalist Florian Plettenburg claimed that Liverpool are still hoping to land Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi. It is believed that the Reds are planning to move in for the England international this January.
Guehi has enjoyed a good run of form at the London club after he produced a run of impressive displays for them in the Premier League. The 25-year-old registered one goal and earned three assists in 19 matches for Crystal Palace this season across multiple competitions.
The English talent has been a decent presence on the defensive end of the field as he has made 23 tackles, five blocks, 13 interceptions and 57 clearances in the Premier League. He has even distributed possession relatively well based on his pass completion rate of 86% in the English top tier (stats via fbref.com).
His current contract at Selhurst Park will run out at the end of this campaign, which could open the door for the Reds to sign him on the cheap this January.

Guehi is a good tackler of the ball and can sense the danger well to secure possession back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when needed and excels at playing his way out from the back.
The English sensation has got a wealth of experience in the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at Liverpool. He would no doubt add a lot of quality to Arne Slot’s backline and could help the Reds compete for some major honours over the next few years.
Guehi would also serve as an ideal successor to Virgil Van Dijk at the Merseyside club if Slot can manage to bring him on board next year.
At 25, Guehi has his best years ahead of him. Furthermore, he is on an expiring contract, which makes him an affordable option for the Reds to consider this January. He has got the leadership and quality to be a success story at the Merseyside club in the coming years. All in all, Slot would be wise to sign him in this winter transfer window.
