Arne Slot refused to provide an update on Jeremie Frimpong, as the wing-back’s move to Liverpool moves closer to completion.
The Reds are expected to wrap up a £29.5million deal for the Bayer Leverkusen star, activating his release clause as they move quickly to replace the departing Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Reports on Monday night suggested that Frimpong has now completed his Liverpool medical, having agreed a five-year contract.
However, Slot was unsurprisingly tight-lipped when quizzed after his side’s 3-2 defeat to Brighton.
Asked whether he could confirm that Frimpong had undergone a medical, the Liverpool boss replied: “What do you think?
“I think what we all know is the moment we announce it, that is the moment to talk about it in general. We haven’t announced anything so no need to talk about anyone.”
Alexander-Arnold did not come off the bench against Brighton, having been booed by Liverpool supporters when doing so last week against Arsenal.
Conor Bradley started for the Reds and provided the assist for Liverpool’s opening goal, but it was not enough for the Reds to avoid a third straight match without a win since wrapping up the title.
The likes of Harvey Elliott and Federico Chiesa were given an opportunity to impress on the south coast, with Virgil van Dijk handed a rare night off.
"I know these players already for 10 months, so it's not the first time I'm judging them,” Slot said of those who came into the side.
“But it's nice to see Harvey score a goal. he had an assist, not the most difficult one, great goal by Dominik Szoboszlai and Federic had a few good moments as well, especially if you take into account how long he's not been playing.”
