The Reds were without first-choice goalkeeper Alisson Becker, £115million summer signing Florian Wirtz and centre-back Joe Gomez for the heavy 4-1 defeat by PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League on Wednesday, as the Premier League champions slumped to a ninth defeat in 12 games.

The pressure has mounted on Slot, who finds his side 12th in the table and out of the automatic qualification places in Europe.

The Dutchman quelled any rumours of his potential sacking at his pre-match press conference ahead of the Merseysiders’ trip to east London, announcing that he had spoken with the owners about his position.

It follows on from Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher saying on CBS Sports that the Reds were “not a sacking club”, and that they would give the manager time to turn their misfortunes around.

Now, Liverpool could be in line for a quadruple injury boost, with Slot revealing that Alisson, Wirtz, Ekitke and Gomez could all return at the London Stadium this weekend.

Alisson, who has just recovered from a thigh injury, was ruled out of the PSV game with illness, while the German Wirtz and England defender Gomez had been struggling with muscle and knee issues respectively.

Ahead of his side's visit to the Hammers. Slot said: "Alisson trained again today with the team, we hope and expect he is available at the weekend.

"[Florian] Wirtz will have his final day of rehab tomorrow, if all goes well he can train with the team on Saturday.

"[Hugo] Ekitike, today was a recovery day but they don't expect it to be a big issue.

"[Joe Gomez is] close. He could have been involved yesterday in terms of minutes. When we are 3-1 down, I tend to make offensive changes."
