When Alexander Isak arrived at Anfield last September, many supporters thought he would be guaranteed success in Merseyside.
The Swede’s first season under Slot hasn’t gone to plan however, and now a sensational report from Spain is claiming that the striker wants to call it quits after only one year with the Premier League Champions.
The report from Fichajes claims that Isak has his heart set on a move to Barcelona this summer and has already asked his agent to put the wheels in motion on an Anfield exit.
The 26-year-old is reportedly not satisfied with his spell at Liverpool and feels that a move to Barcelona would be the perfect opportunity for him to relaunch his career.
The Spanish report appears to overlook just how badly injury has impacted Isak’s first campaign as a Red, and the player’s desire to leave is yet to be corroborated by any English outlets.
Having paid a British-record £125 million for Isak less than a year ago, it feels incredibly unlikely that the Reds would consider sanctioning a sale any time soon.
Barcelona’s financial issues have been well documented in recent years too, making an outlay of over £100m for a player who has missed most of the season injured equally unlikely.
Isak’s dissatisfaction with his debut season at Liverpool may be genuine, but a premature exit doesn’t feel like the solution, and rumours of an impending exit are likely just rumours.
