The Frenchman is out of contract at the end of the current season - and could be leaving the club on a free transfer if no new deal is agreed.

Having joined the club from RB Leipzig back in 2021 for £35m, Konate has established himself as Virgil van Dijk’s preferred centre-back partner - winning the Premier League title in the 2024/25 season.

But the Premier League champions may opt to turn to Bournemouth for a bargain new recruit - with BBC reporter Nizaar Kinsella confirming that Marcos Senesi is set to leave the club on a free at the end of the season.

Senesi, 28, joined the Cherries back in 2022 and is currently first-choice centre-back for head coach Andoni Iraola. His period out of the team last season owing to injury opened the door to Dean Huijsen - who ended up joining Real Madrid last summer.

Bournemouth also sold Illia Zabarnyi to Paris Saint-Germain with the Vitality Stadium providing a very good environment for defenders to develop.
