Liverpool Agree Victor Munoz Deal as Osasuna Forward Becomes Iraola’s First Signing

Liverpool have moved quickly to secure the signing of Victor Munoz from Osasuna, with the Spain forward set to become the first new arrival of the Andoni Iraola era.

Liverpool FC have agreed a deal to sign Victor Munoz from Osasuna, subject to a successful work permit application and international clearance.

The 22-year-old is currently away with Spain at the World Cup, but the key formalities have already advanced. Munoz completed his medical at Spain’s base in Tennessee, USA, before signing a long-term contract with Liverpool.

It is a significant early move for Iraola, who has only recently taken charge at Anfield. After a disappointing 2025/26 campaign, Liverpool have acted with purpose in the market, and Munoz arrives as a forward with pedigree, versatility and room for further development.

Spain Recognition Adds Weight

Munoz’s rise has accelerated sharply over the past year. The attacker has earned two caps for Spain and made an immediate impact at international level, scoring on his debut against Serbia in March.

That call-up followed a strong campaign with Osasuna, where he made 34 appearances, scored seven goals and provided five assists in all competitions. Those numbers point to a player capable of contributing in different attacking phases, rather than one defined purely by goals.

His World Cup involvement also underlines the level Liverpool believe they are buying into. Munoz is expected to be part of Spain’s squad for their second group-stage fixture against Saudi Arabia in Atlanta on Sunday.

Osasuna Spell Proved Crucial

Munoz joined Osasuna last summer from Real Madrid after progressing through the Spanish giants’ youth system and making four senior appearances. Earlier in his development, he was also part of Barcelona’s academy, having started out in the set-up of his hometown club.

That pathway matters. Liverpool are not only signing a player with first-team experience in La Liga, they are adding someone who has been shaped by elite Spanish environments before proving himself at Osasuna.

Iraola Era Takes Shape

Munoz will link up with his new Liverpool teammates later this summer, once Spain’s World Cup campaign has ended. His arrival makes him the second addition to the Reds’ squad ahead of 2026/27, following the earlier agreement for Jeremy Jacquet.

For Liverpool, this is an important first statement under Iraola. Munoz is young, technically educated and already tested at international level. If his development continues on the same trajectory, Osasuna may look back on this deal as one that came just before his profile rose even higher.
