Arne Slot has a lot of making up to do to Liverpool's fanbase next season.

The Dutchman has massively under-delivered this term with the Reds failing to add any sort of silverware to their trophy cabinet.

Most of his signings have failed to work out but, all hope may not be lost.

That is, if the Anfield outfit manage to get the transfer of one player over the line this summer.

Liverpool must do everything they can to sign Anthony Gordon

Much like Alexander Isak last summer, Anthony Gordon has been one of the most-linked players with Liverpool over the last couple of windows.

The Englishman is exactly what the Anfield outfit are missing within their attack due to his sheer pace and unreal versatility.

Many people expected Isak to be an instant hit this term but, that's certainly not been the case with the Sweden international only scoring four goals this term.

However, after the latest update from Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, it feels like Isak could be unleashed next season as the Reds have now been told that it'll only take around £69 million to prise Gordon away from St James' Park.

"There have already been club-to-club talks between FC Bayern and Newcastle regarding Anthony Gordon," he wrote.

"Newcastle’s initial demands were up to €90m. Barcelona, Arsenal and Liverpool also informed.

"Realistically, the fee is expected to be around €75-85m including bonuses.

"Bayern will not pay that. That is why talks with other candidates are also ongoing."

Why the transfer of Anthony Gordon could unleash Alexander Isak for Liverpool

Even though Isak may not have been up to scratch this season, with Gordon alongside him, he was seen as a "superb" striker.

The duo were one of the main reasons why the Magpies managed to qualify for the Champions League last season and, if Gordon was brought to Anfield, their impressive form could re-emerge.

When playing together, Gordon and Isak compliment one another's playing styles extremely well which enables the duo to get the best out of each other.

And, since Isak thrives off a certain style of play, Gordon would be able to deliver that which would probably increase the striker's output.

Indeed, Gordon would also have others such as Hugo Ekitike, Rio Ngumoha and Cody Gakpo to help him out but, in reality, Gordon is all that Liverpool need.

Competition for the transfer of the Englishman is high so, if Liverpool want to ger the best out of Isak and sign their long-term target, they'll have to act before it's too late.
