Liverpool defender Fisk receives England call-up as duo withdraw | OneFootball

England head coach Sarina Wiegman has offered a late call-up to Liverpool defender Grace Fisk ahead of this month’s home international friendlies against Brazil and Australia.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official media update from The Football Association this morning.

The 27-year-old centre-back has been called into camp following the withdrawals of Arsenal’s Katie Reid and Manchester City’s Grace Clinton through injury. Wiegman has opted against calling-up a second player to cover for the absences.

Liverpool defender Fisk has been on the fringes of the England senior side in recent years but she is yet to make her debut for the Lionesses at senior level. She has previously turned out for her country at various youth levels.

England face South American champions Brazil at the City of Manchester Stadium on Saturday evening before taking on Australia at Pride Park in Derby next Tuesday. Both of those matches form part of a four-game ‘Homecoming Series’ which will see the Lionesses’ recent UEFA Women’s EURO win celebrated on home soil. England will also face China and Ghana in the series during the November international window.
