On the Anfield Index Pro Plus special, host Dave Davis placed Curtis Jones firmly inside Liverpool’s summer transfer conversation, with Inter Milan’s interest now part of the wider picture around squad change, midfield balance and contract risk. The focus was clear, Jones has one year remaining on his Liverpool deal, Inter are keen, and the numbers being discussed have already provoked a strong reaction.
Davis said the latest uncertainty came from “everything that’s come up around Curtis Jones in what the last two days,” before referencing Fabrizio Romano’s report that “Curtis Jones been prioritizing a move to Inter for months” and that there had been “initial contact between the two clubs last night.”
That is the first key point. This does not sound like a vague market rumour.
The issue, as Davis explained, is the fee. He cited Di Marzio’s reporting that after a meeting with Liverpool, “the gap for Curtis Jones is 10 million euros,” with Inter’s “offer is 20 million euros.” Davis added that “The Reds are asking for 30 million euros plus a percentage of the future resale.”
For Liverpool, that is a pivotal distinction. Selling a homegrown midfielder with first team experience for a reduced fee would sit awkwardly beside the wider squad building challenge. Davis did not hide his surprise, saying, “this is what honestly baffles me a little bit.”
He also pushed back on the idea that Liverpool should simply move Jones on because another midfielder could arrive. “I get the whole if you get rid of Curtis Jones you bring in Adam Wharton. People will see that and I understand that logic to a sense. Different players of course but what’s the right thing for the side?”
That line matters. Jones is not being assessed in isolation. He is being judged against Liverpool’s need for homegrown depth, midfield control and value protection.
Davis was especially direct when discussing Inter Milan’s proposed figure. “I’d rather keep Curtis than other players to be honest,” he said, before putting Inter’s reported offer into context: “Inter offering 20 million euros. Now, what will that get you at Tesco?”
He later sharpened the point further, saying: “Liverpool aren’t going to sell for 20 million euros.” On the possibility of keeping him into the final year of his deal, Davis added: “Liverpool have got no fear in running contracts into their last year. Let’s not pretend that for one single second.”

There was also a footballing argument. Davis read out Antonus’ view from the chat: “I rate Jones if he goes to into watching be Italian player of the season,” comparing the potential impact to “a Scott McTominay type of thing.”
That is the risk for Liverpool. Curtis Jones could leave Anfield, join Inter Milan, find rhythm, and immediately look undervalued. Equally, keeping him without a contract solution carries its own danger.
The clean conclusion from the podcast is that Liverpool’s stance must be firm. Davis’ phrase, “Curtis Jones for 20 million euros, what? 15, 16 million quid. Come on,” neatly summed up the mood.
For now, Liverpool, Curtis Jones and Inter Milan remain locked in a valuation story. The player’s future may depend less on sentiment and more on whether Inter return with a figure that Liverpool can justify.
