Anthony Gordon is a ‘concrete’ option of Bayern’s transfer shortlist this summer, reports Christian Falk.
The Newcastle United winger is understood to be attracting serious attention from clubs across Europe.
That’s due in no small part to the Premier League-based outfit facing increased pressure under Financial Fair Play rules.
Gordon has reportedly ‘signalled’ that he could make the move over to the German top-flight amid links with FC Bayern.
However, the potential money involved in the transfer could prevent the Bundesliga champions from sealing a deal.
“It is TRUE: Anthony Gordon is highly-rated on Bayern’s shortlist. Now, there will be talks about money, so it’s very concrete!” Falk exclusively informed CF Bayern Insider.
“Gordon signalled that he could make a move to the Bundesliga, so I think perhaps this is partly Harry Kane’s doing. Normally, English national players rarely come to the German top-flight.
“That all said, the transfer fee Newcastle end up demanding for the winger could harm Bayern’s hopes of signing Anthony Gordon. There were many rumours of an €80m [£69.3m] fee. The Times now suggest it’s actually closer to €75m [£65m]. I think this would be too expensive for Bayern Munich.”
We know that Bayern would be keen on bringing Anthony Gordon to Munich this summer if possible.

However, ultimately, they will be prepared to consider cheaper alternatives. Even if it means the Bavarians can only bring in an out-and-out left-sided winger as backup to Luis Diaz, instead of a versatile attacking option.
Christian Falk went on to add: “Of course, there’s always the possibility that if Anthony Gordon pushes for a move to Bayern and Bayern only, then perhaps Newcastle could be encouraged to lower the asking price.
“As things stand, Bayern Munich are in a good place with Luis Diaz, Harry Kane and Michael Olise, and with Jamal Musiala behind them. These are all positions Gordon can play, although he would be another option, so spending too much money would be difficult for FC Bayern.”
Signing Gordon would afford Vincent Kompany and his coaching staff a great deal of wiggle room with the starting-XI options.
However, if push came to shove, it shouldn’t be forgotten that Bayern Munich have, perhaps, the strongest forward line in Europe.

The England international would no doubt improve matters in Munich.
But it’s not necessarily the end of the world if Bayern’s recruitment team is instead forced to pursue options they’d need to spend time developing.
