Liverpool forward has made his decision over Napoli offer

Liverpool have a lot of interest in their forwards. Apart from Mohamed Salah, who everyone knows is untouchable, each of the players have had at least one approach regarding a summer move.

A serious shake-up is being considered on Merseyside this summer. If sufficient offers are proposed, then the Reds will not shy away from making a bold call and bringing in someone fresh instead.

One of the main players who is likely to depart this summer is Darwin Nunez, with an approach from Napoli currently on the table for him, although offers from Saudi Arabia might also appeal to him.

But another one of the Reds' forwards is also subject to interest from Napoli this summer, so it is plausible that the pair could reunite in Italy this summer if both deals end up going through.

Napoli's interest in Chiesa is mutual

According to Empire of the Kop, Federico Chiesa is interested in moving back to Italy after spending just one season with the Reds. His minutes were limited throughout the last campaign and he wants to get back into the Italian national team before the World Cup - presuming his country can qualify.

The report claims: "The 27-year-old is open to joining Napoli and the interest is mutual, with both clubs understood to be in talks over a possible transfer for the ex-Juventus forward.

"While he'd be amenable to signing for the Serie A champions, he doesn't want to finalise his decision until he's had further discussions with the Anfield hierarchy."

As such, we might be on the verge of saying goodbye to yet another one of the fans' favourite players, just months after everyone became obsessed with the song that had been made for him.

In truth, it's understandable as to why Chiesa might want to leave. The move to England was ambitious, but outside of his comfort zone and while he might well have dreamed of playing for a team like Liverpool, his spell with us has not panned out how he would've wanted it to.

As expected, he's been stuck behind Mohamed Salah in the pecking order at right-wing and Arne Slot simply favoured the other options he had over the Italian. Finding a role for him was difficult.

Furthermore, his fitness simply wasn't at the required standard during the beginning of last season, and his injury issues meant that he struggled to embed himself early. That was an enormous issue.

So we might legitimately see him go after just 14 appearances, which make up 477 minutes, which would be particularly sad, although we could see a return on the £10m we spent on him given he's contracted for a further three years. Richard Hughes and co. will be lining up a lucrative deal for him.

But regardless of any sentiment we might have for Chiesa, it's clear that this would be a more than is beneficial for all parties. We don't need him, Napoli want him and he needs a fresh start elsewhere.
