Liverpool are braced for another potential raid from the Saudi Pro League (SPL), with the Public Investment Fund (PIF) plotting a summer move for talisman Mohamed Salah.
According to the Telegraph, Saudi clubs have even asked whether it would be possible to sign Salah this winter transfer window, but Liverpool will resist a mid-season move.
The Reds have shown little appetite to negotiate a transfer this month, and there is also the question of whether the 33-year-old is ready to walk away from elite European football.
Salah is currently going through his worst spell in a Liverpool shirt, scoring just four goals and providing three assists in 14 Premier League appearances.
He hasn’t scored for Liverpool since the 2-0 win over Aston Villa in November last year, going seven games in all competitions without a goal.
However, he was one of the top scorers at the recently concluded Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Morocco, scoring four times as Egypt reached the semi-finals.
Salah had an explosive row with Liverpool towards the end of last year, during which he publicly criticised the club and claimed he was being made a scapegoat.
However, Liverpool made it clear that they want Salah to see out the remainder of his contract, which runs out in 2027.
Liverpool have already missed out on a chance to pocket an earth-shattering transfer fee for Salah.
If SPL clubs return with another mammoth proposal, they could find it hard to look the other way, particularly with Salah showing signs of decline.
