It’s been a season to forget for Monaco.
The Principality side finished seventh in Ligue 1 - missing out on a place in Europe for next season. That outcome is likely to have big consequences as Monaco wrestle with the problem of making ends meet.
The overwhelming likelihood is that some of their star names leave - with Lamine Camara already among those linked with a move to Liverpool.
But there remains the possibility that the Premier League champions could do a double deal with Monaco - with the second player being Maghnes Akliouche.
According to a report in TEAMtalk it’s becoming a near certainty that the France international will leave the club this summer.
And with Mohamed Salah leaving Liverpool the Reds will be right there to contest the signature of the 24-year-old.
Akliouche - who is left-footed and plays off the right - would be a very good stylistic fit for Arne Slot’s side. He possesses creativity and has an eye for goal - scoring six times and adding seven assists in Ligue 1 this season.
The winger is under contract with Monaco until 2028 but looks set to leave imminently - with the Reds being joined by Tottenham, Manchester United and Newcastle in their chase for Akliouche.
“Maghnes Akliouche is expected to be among the headline departures, amid interest from Liverpool, Manchester United, and other top sides,” the report reads.
“His displays have been closely monitored by Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Newcastle United over recent months.
“All four clubs are understood to appreciate Akliouche’s technical quality, creativity and versatility across the attacking line. Liverpool continue assessing long-term attacking options as they reshape their forward line.”
