Liverpool could learn something from Real Madrid. It now seems they're being given the perfect opportunity to prove it.
It seems Liverpool may lose Trey Nyoni. Willingly, though.
The 19-year-old has long been one of the brightest prospects in Liverpool's academy but his first-team game time has been incredibly hard to come by. Arne Slot didn't really trust him outside of the League Cup, offering only limited minutes in the Premier League.
That's naturally not enough for a talented midfielder who everyone hoped would break through to the senior level by now. It's a situation that's alerted other clubs, with both Swansea and Blackburn Rovers hoping to snap Nyoni up for £6m, per On The Minute.
Now, that's a genuinely shocking fee for a player as good as Nyoni. Or at least, a player with the upside he has.
But maybe it's time for Liverpool to take a page out of Real Madrid's book with this one and earn a lot down the line. Los Blancos, after all, have made a fortune this summer with their academy players.

The trick? Sell them on the cheap to clubs but with an equally-cheap buyback clause. They've made money from Victor Munoz this summer, earning a percentage of his move to Liverpool.
But it's with players like Jacobo Ramon, Nico Paz and Chema Andres that the plan really shines. The trio quickly became some of the most promising young players in European football and Real Madrid boast buybacks on all three.
Paz, in particularly, shone brightly last season. Enough so that Real Madrid brought him back just to sell him back to Como for €60m. There's another buyback in there, too, of around €80m.
This should be the plan with Nyoni. Get him to a club where he can develop but where Liverpool can also retain control over his future.
Because there's every chance that he does go on to become a star, fulfilling his considerable potential. And if so, the Reds will absolutely want a buyback in there for a good amount of money.
