Liverpool handed major blow as Jeremie Frimpong suffers fresh injury

More bad news for Arne Slot and the Reds

Jeremie Frimpong completed less than 20 minutes of Liverpool’s Champions League meeting with Eintracht Frankfurt after suffering what appeared to be a fresh hamstring injury.

The Dutchman was named to the starting lineup as the Reds visited his former club, but he pulled up and had to be replaced with just 19 minutes on the clock.

Frimpong looked forlorn as he hobbled off the pitch to be replaced by Conor Bradley.

It is a frustrating blow for the full-back, who joined Liverpool from Frankfurt in the summer and has already spent a considerable spell on the sidelines after injuring his hamstring against Bournemouth on the first day of the season.

Moments after Frimpong’s substitution, Liverpool found themselves trailing as Rasmus Kristensen opened the scoring for the hosts, though the Reds were back in front shortly after thanks to goals from Hugo Ekitike and Virgil van Dijk.
