Liverpool handed transfer boost as their next Mohamed Salah is made clear | OneFootball

Mohamed Salah's Liverpool stint was expected to end in the near future but nobody thought that he'd end up terminating his deal a year early.

A lot of people thought that, after his 50 + goal contributions and Premier League win during the 2024-25 season that he'd leave Anfield and go in search of a final pay day.

However, he chose to stay put and try and lead Liverpool to another top flight title and perhaps even the Champions League.

But, since Arne Slot changed the Reds' playing style and failed to set his team up to play towards Salah and Cody Gakpo's strengths, they ended up performing rather terribly and only just scraped a Champions League finish.

Yan Diomande was the Reds' first choice to replace Salah at Anfield but, now that deal is out of the window, their attention has been turned elsewhere.

Many different attackers have been linked with a Liverpool move this summer but, after the latest transfer news that has emerged, the Reds' next Salah feels as clear as day.

RB Leipzig are close to signing Fisnik Asllani which could open the door to Antonio Nusa's exit

Bradley Barcola is the other winger that most people want Liverpool to sign this summer.

But, since Paris Saint-Germain are likely to demand over £120 million to prise him away from the Parc des Princes, it feels like an awful lot of money to splurge on one player, especially when his contract is set to expire in two years time.

So, this steep asking fee has forced Liverpool to explore other options that they have available to them which is where Antonio Nusa comes in.

The RB Leipzig attacker was one of Norway's best players during the 2026 World Cup and, his versatility to be able to play on either wing is a massive selling point for the 21-year-old.

Thanks to his solid performances, Nusa has caught the eye of many teams from across the world but, up until recently, a move didn't feel all that likely to happen.

That is, until Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg shared a fresh update about Leipzig's escapades in the transfer market.

"Personal terms between RB Leipzig and Fisnik Asllani are close to being agreed, as revealed last week," he wrote via his personal X account.

"However, no full agreement has been reached yet. Leipzig are keen to sign the 23 y/o promising striker from TSG Hoffenheim, whose release clause is worth around €25m-€29m.

"Borussia Dortmund and several other clubs are also interested, but RB are currently the most concrete option."

Antonio Nusa would be a smart signing for Liverpool

For one reason or another, the transfer market is massively inflated at the moment.

Admittedly, Liverpool probably have something to do with this after they signed Florian Wirtz for £116 million and Alexander Isak for £125 million last summer but, that shouldn't mean that players such as Elliott Anderson are being signed for £116 million.

The same has been happening with attackers as Morgan Rogers has also almost confirmed his £116 million move to Chelsea.

These inflated prices have led to PSG demanding over £100 million for Barcola with Leipzig wanting around the same for Diomande.

Admittedly, both of these players would be exceptional signings for Liverpool but, if the Anfield outfit want to get ahead of the game, they need to sign players who aren't fully proven yet but still have a lot going for them.

Nusa is the perfect example of this. He's lightning quick, has a keen eye for goal and can play on either wing if needed.

Leipzig also only want around £50 million for the Norwegian so, compared to the other two players who were mentioned, it feels like Liverpool signing Nusa would be a smart move.
