In a recent report, journalist Graeme Bailey mentioned that Liverpool have held discussions to land Real Madrid attacker Rodrygo. It has been revealed that the Reds are eager to acquire the services of the Brazilian winger but could face competition from Arsenal in pursuit of him this summer.
Rodrygo enjoyed a good run of form at the Madrid club last season after he put in a handful of impressive displays for them on the offensive end of the field. The Brazilian talent found the back of the net 14 times and earned 11 assists in 54 matches for Real Madrid in the previous campaign across multiple competitions.
The 24-year-old deserves a ton of credit for averaging 2.52 shots per 90 minutes in La Liga. He kept 37% of his attempts on target. Rodrygo was even accurate when distributing possession in the final third, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 85.9% in the top tier of Spanish football (stats via fbref.com).
His current contract at the Spanish club will expire in the summer of 2028. Therefore, it won’t be easy for Liverpool to get a cut-price deal done for Rodrygo this off-season.

Rodrygo excels at finding a yard of space for himself to get a few shots at goal. He has got the pace and dribbling ability to cause a lot of headaches for his marker out in the wide areas.
The Brazilian wing wizard can shoot the ball with power from long range and can chip in by scoring his fair share of goals up top. He is primarily a right-winger but can also play as a left-sided wide player or as a centre-forward if required.
We can expect Rodrygo to bring more firepower to Liverpool boss Arne Slot’s attack. He has what it takes to compete with Cody Gakpo for a regular first-team spot at the Merseyside club next season.
At 24, Rodrygo has his peak years ahead of him which makes him a decent choice for the Reds to consider in this summer transfer window. Thus, it makes sense for Slot to get him on board this summer.
