Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz has several of Europe’s top clubs after him, and it appears that he intends to hear out all of their offers before making a final call. After Bayern Munich made an initial move for Wirtz, the Premier League giants have now come into the picture.
It was reported on Tuesday that Manchester City had made a move for Wirtz, as they look to replace Kevin de Bruyne, with Barcelona’s Dani Olmo another option on their agenda. City have held negotiations with Wirtz and father Hans-Joachim Wirtz, but now it has transpired that he and his father have also held a meeting with Liverpool.
That is according to CFBayern, who say that while Wirtz is not a priority for Liverpool, who are targeting a goalscorer first, they arre a fan of his talent. The 22-year-old is likely to cost somewhere between €100m and the €150m Leverkusen asking price. Christian Falk also explains that the meeting had been planned ahead of time, and was not at a last-minute move from the Reds.

After it was reported last week that Bayern had reached an agreement in principle with Wirtz’s father, they moved into pole position for his signature. The Bavarian giants remain confident they will get the deal done, having already reached a verbal pact with Wirtz too. Their main doubt is whether it will happen this summer or next.
With Xabi Alonso moving to the Santiago Bernabeu, and Los Blancos already interested in Wirtz, it does not take a genius to imagine that a Real Madrid midfield lacking creativity could benefit from Wirtz. They are said to be keen on Wirtz, but with the backline their current priority, they certainly look in danger of missing out. Usually their pursuit of big-money signings begins far earlier too, but there is the Alonso relationship to consider.
