In a recent report, Portuguese outlet Correio de Manha claimed that Liverpool have identified Sporting CP forward Viktor Gyokeres as a target. It has been stated that the Reds are eyeing a move to bring the Swedish striker to Anfield in this summer transfer period.
Gyokeres had a productive campaign at the Portuguese club recently as he was responsible for putting in a run of impressive performances for them in the final third. The 27-year-old banged 54 goals and grabbed 13 assists in 52 appearances for Sporting last season across all fronts.
The Stockholm-born talent led the line well and deserves credit for averaging 4.08 shots per 90 minutes in Liga Portugal. He kept 52% of his attempts on target. However, Gyokeres has to figure out a way to improve his link-up play in the final third based on his pass completion rate of 71.4% in the Portuguese top tier (stats via fbref.com).
His current contract at Sporting will run out in the summer of 2028 which could make it tough for the Reds to snap him up on the cheap this off-season.

Gyokeres is proficient at finding some space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. He has got the vision to create some promising chances in the final third and is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet.
The Swedish talent has been a consistent goal-scorer for Sporting but it remains to be seen whether he can maintain his excellent form in the Premier League. Furthermore, he has to find a way to improve his passing accuracy in the opposition half.
Gyokeres would undoubtedly add more firepower to Liverpool head coach Arne Slot’s frontline. He is good enough to serve as an ideal replacement for Darwin Nunez who has struggled to find consistency at the Merseyside club thus far.
At 27, Gyokeres is entering his prime which makes him a great option for the Reds to pursue in this summer transfer period. Therefore, it makes sense for Liverpool to go all out to get him on board soon as he might help them compete for more trophies in the coming seasons.
