West Ham United have sent a significant offer to the representatives of Paris FC defender Moustapha Mbow, but could face competition from Liverpool, according to French outlet RMC Sports.

The Hammers are desperate to stay up and hold on to manager Nuno Espirito Santo, which would boost their chances of bringing Mbow to the club.

However, Liverpool have enquired about the 6ft 4in Senegalese star.

The Merseyside club have lost 11 Premier League games this term, conceding 47 goals, more than 16th-placed Nottingham Forest.

They need to get things right in the summer transfer window, and signing a centre-back is in their plans.

Mbow has impressed in France, making more than 100 appearances for the club.

He has impressed since helping Paris FC win promotion last term, and West Ham and Liverpool are not the only clubs keen on signing him.

Ipswich Town, Fulham, Crystal Palace and Lille are also interested, and more suitors could join them in the race.

Senegal manager Pape Thiaw has been keeping tabs on Mbow and is likely to take him to the 2026 World Cup.

A move to the Premier League would appeal to him, with Liverpool likely to be playing in the Champions League next season.

However, the defender will be keen on playing regularly. He will need guarantees from Arne Slot that he be in the team despite the presence of Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk.

West Ham can offer him regular football, but they need to hold on to their Premier League status.
