Very abruptly the Liverpool head-coach will now be realising the merciless nature of the media in the United Kingdom. For most of his tenure, he's been the darling of supporters and the media.
However, now he's going to have to answer difficult questions and solve problems that he hasn't really had to solve.
Undoubtedly, the biggest issue stems from Liverpool's build-up play. Right now, it's all over the place and languid and slow. It looks very disjointed and nothing like the team we saw playing last season.
Slot has blamed the fact that teams are playing deeper against the Reds as the main culprit of this. In reality though the bigger issue is the fact that Liverpool are missing a player in Trent Alexander-Arnold who would take risks and make clever progressive passes into the final-third.
Liverpool don't really have players to do that at the moment - except for one.
