Liverpool manager Arne Slot confirmed that Alisson Becker will miss the Premier League game against Fulham this Saturday.
A muscle injury has sidelined the goalkeeper for the last three matches, all of which the Reds have lost while conceding eight goals and scoring only one.
There is a boost in terms of the return of Alexander Isak, who has recovered from a fractured fibula he suffered in December and should be in the matchday squad this weekend.
Jeremie Frimpong and Joe Gomez are doubts to feature however, after Slot said he was “worried” about their fitness ahead of the visit of the Cottagers.
“We don’t get a player back yet but Alisson is working hard to find his way back in the squad. He will not be back in the squad,” Slot said in his pre-match press conference.
Isak came off the bench on Wednesday to play the final 13 minutes of Liverpool’s 2-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League. He has only made 16 appearances since his £125m move from Newcastle United last summer.
“Alex is available for us again is vital for us, of course. It was hard for us to convert chances to goals and he has been a goalscorer his whole life,” Slot continued.
“To have him back is really nice. It was only 15 minutes but it’s good to have him back and hopefully we can grow his minutes.
“Last time, it took him a while but we are hoping after the great rehab period that we can bring him faster to the level.”
